Date: 9 November 2017, Thursday
Time: 7:30-9:30pm

Entree is Served: ACT is an introductory ACT workshop for mental health professionals (psychologists, counsellors, social workers). It will cover the theoretical background and research in ACT, basic concepts of ACT, a brief introduction to the components of ACT, and bite-sized ACT techniques that can be used on the self and with clients. A case study will wrap up the session to see how it all comes together.

Real life cases and examples will be used throughout the session as the focus is on understanding the concepts + application.

It is called Entree is Served as it is meant to be a taster of ACT, especially for those who are new to ACT and not sure if this is an approach they would want to go further with. It is designed such that even if you do like ACT after attending this workshop, you would be equipped to learn ACT on your own through self-study. Being an ACT therapist does not require certification.

Here are some of the feedback received from running this workshop previously:

“Reading the book wasn’t enough to get my head around this topic, Farah’s way of conceptualising it really helped. (“Happiness trap”)”

“The metaphors and analogies were very helpful, it made everything easier to understand and I could see how easy it would be to explain to my clients or to use in sessions.”

“The control pathway was the most helpful for me as I think that can be used right away with any client i see. I also found the case examples and relating the ACT principles to real life experiences helped my understanding a great deal.”
